The staff is friendly and helpful. Room cleanliness could be improved; we had hair and leaks in the bathroom. Location is great for visiting Legoland and close to a golf course.

Location is perfect for Legoland and close to restaurants. The pool needs repairs; it wasn't heated during our stay. Very friendly staff made our visit enjoyable. The golf course nearby looked nice, but overall, the amenities need updating.

You can easily walk to Legoland in just 15 minutes and enjoy the beautiful Flower Fields which are less than a kilometer away while the vibrant Carlsbad Village with its restaurants and shops is only around 3.5 kilometers from here making it convenient to explore, plus the hotel has a nice heated pool for kids and a great breakfast to start the day; however, some facilities could use a little updating.

The hot tub is a great way to relax after a long day. The staff is friendly and the check-in process is smooth, plus the location is perfect for Legoland trips.
The morning drilling is a rude wake-up call.

The room I received was quite large and featured beautiful decor. The beds were exceptionally comfortable, with feather pillows that enhanced our rest. Unfortunately, it did not match the pictures shown online, and cleanliness was lacking. The bathrooms felt old and musty, and the shower had grimy spots. While the temperature control was inconsistent, yielding scalding hot water at times, the staff handled concerns professionally. The balcony offered a nice touch, and the pool area was enjoyable. Proximity to restaurants and popular attractions was a huge plus, making it convenient for our family's plans.

Perfect for a quick, no-frills stop. Clean, comfortable rooms at an affordable price. Convenient location with plenty of nearby dining options, including Chick-fil-A and In-N-Out. Friendly reception staff quickly provided extra pillows and water. the hotel needs significant renovations. The room did not match the online photos. Musty smell, scuffed walls, and dirty mirrors were disappointing. Pool area was beautiful but the jacuzzi felt uninviting. Noise from the room above disrupted our sleep. Good A/C, solid water pressure, and clean pool towels are highlights. But for $300, I expect much better. With some updates, this could be a great option; as is, it's underwhelming.

The hotel itself is in a great area with lots of nearby attractions like Legoland and the San Diego Zoo, which was awesome for our family trip. The heated pool was a hit with the kids, and the garden surroundings were pleasant. there were some downsides. The cleanliness left a lot to be desired - we found hair in the tub and stains on the mattress, which was a bit off-putting. The room also had a musty smell and the bathroom felt old and not well-maintained. The lamps were also a bit wonky, with one not even working properly. the receptionist was super nice and check-in was a breeze. The pool area was lovely, and the shuttle service to Legoland was a convenient perk, although we didn't get to try it out this time. It's just a shame about the cleanliness and maintenance issues that took away from an otherwise enjoyable stay.

Our room was a total letdown—small, outdated, and dirty. I even found goldfish crackers on the floor! The noise from the fridge and A/C was unbearable, and the bathroom was just gross. Definitely not worth the price.

The location was great, right across from the outlet mall with lots of dining options nearby. The garden view from the balcony was pleasant, and the staff were accommodating, even delivering a microwave when requested. The patio overlooking the garden and gazebo was a nice spot to relax in.
Our room was not up to standard. The floors were dirty, our feet were black, and even after asking for a clean, they remained dirty.

Loved lounging in the garden courtyard on my private balcony. The food hall was a delightful feast for the taste buds. The botanical garden nearby is truly a floral paradise!
I thoroughly enjoyed not being able to contact anyone with the hotel phones. How convenient!

The noise from the nearby freeway was disruptive, and the layout of the room felt awkward with the bathroom's proximity to the entrance. Staff interactions varied, with some being truly exceptional while others were less accommodating. A mix of comfort and chaos, but not without its charm.

The heated pool was a total game changer for us! Our little one splashed around all day, grinning from ear to ear. Plus, the food court nearby had everything we craved—Italian, BBQ, and even dessert!

The cleanliness of the room was disappointing, with dirty floors and dog hair present. The noise levels from neighboring rooms and external sources, such as the interstate, were often disruptive.

by the sea is pretty close to legoland and there's lots of shopping and dining nearby. breakfast was good - but gets crowded. the rooms were updated and comfy with a handy fridge and microwave. had to switch rooms but cleanliness was on point. hvac needed fixing but they took care of it. didn't love the breakfast and tgif service - but great food is close. would definitely recommend.

I was drawn to the Carlsbad Lagoon Recreation Area and chose By The Sea Hotel for its location, but the well-trained team was a pleasant surprise. Also, the comprehensive Adventure and Dining Guide was a great help in exploring the local wineries.

Our family had a fantastic time at SEA LIFE Aquarium, exploring and learning about sea creatures up close. The hands-on exhibits and educational talks were engaging for our kids, and the variety of sea creatures amazed us all.
My wife says that more kid-friendly amenities would enhance family stays.

Great location near Legoland and outlet mall. Varied food court with bar, Italian, Japanese, BBQ, and more. Shuttle to Legoland. Clean rooms with good amenities. Quick response to extra towel request.

by the sea in Carlsbad was a lovely experience. from the moment i arrived, the staff was very helpful and cheerful. the location was perfect, close to shops and restaurants, and the windmill food hall was fantastic. the room was spacious, clean, and had a nice garden view from the balcony. although there was some freeway noise, the grounds were well-kept, and it was a good place to visit Legoland.

Our family had an amazing stay at this conveniently located hotel near Legoland. The staff was friendly and the shuttle service was a great perk. The heated pool and hot tub were perfect for relaxation, while the variety of breakfast options satisfied everyone in our group. The clean and comfortable rooms, along with the proximity to shops and restaurants, made our trip even better. We will definitely be returning!
Room cleaning service was not up to par, but the issue was resolved after bringing it to the front desk's attention.
